River Boat Discovery

The next day we took a river boat ride.  I actually worked as a gift shop girl at the river boat in the summers while I was in college.  It was fun going back and hearing everything again.  My kids loved it and had fun seeing the float plane, sled dogs, caribou, and all of the interesting native ways of life.

We got the book about Granite the sled dog and kids really enjoy.

Salmon Bake

Salmon Bake was on our "must go" list of places we had to do.  It did not disappoint.  My boys are still taking about how amazing it was.  Every time we have salmon they always ask if I made it the salmon bake way.

After dinner we all got to ride a salmon.

My kids looked a lot cuter riding it then Dustin and I do!

It was a great time.  Thanks Mom and Dad for treating us to dinner.

The Pipe Line and Gold Mining

Before heading gold mining we went and checked out the pipeline.

The kids enjoyed hearing all about it and seeing the replica about how it works.  They also enjoyed playing on it.

We then went gold mining.  We all enjoyed taking the train and hearing the mining history of Alaska and seeing all of the equipment and how it works.

We then got to try our hand at mining for gold the old fashioned way.

Our family ended up with $75 dollars worth of gold flakes.  Pretty good for 15 min of work!

We got to hold a box that used to store the gold and hold a huge gold nugget.  I don't remember how much it was worth but it was a lot.

Playing on the equipment.

Great Grandma Gene

4 Generation Picture
We were able to visit my Grandma several times.  I love my Grandma dearly and it was hard seeing her in such a different way then I remember her.  She has dementia and is unfortunately not doing great.  I was pretty nervous about seeing her because my mom told me how angry she can be at times.  But when I saw her for the first time she looked right at me and said, "Mariah you are home!"  She was so happy our whole visit and loved seeing my kids.  I am so thankful for that memory I have of my Grandma.

Grandma loved kissing us on this day.

I love you Grandma Gene and miss seeing you!

Tanana Valley State Fair

While we were in Fairbanks it happened to be fair week.  I loved going to the Tanana Valley State Fair growing up so it was fun to take my kids and see lots of people we knew.

Camdin and Grandma both got asked up on the stage for the magic show.  Camdin got a doggy balloon and Grandma didn't get hit in the head with juggling stick.

It was buddy day so each of the kids got to go on several rides.  Camdin was tall enough to drive the little monster truck.  Which he thought was the coolest thing!

The bumper cars, huge slide, and twister were also a huge hit.
